Anglers have been reporting good trout fishing lately between Warm Springs, Mecca, Trout Creek and Maupin. Anglers are reporting good action on nymphs and excellent dry fly-fishing during evening hatches. ‌

Salmon fishing at Sherars Falls has continued to be good. Quite a few coho were reported in the creel last week. Steelhead fishing has still been consistent, with many anglers reporting steelhead caught in our creel. White River has been making the Deschutes intermittently turbid. Fishing has been slow when the river is murky. ‌

The Deschutes Steelhead Fishery Framework was established in 2021 and defines standards for opening or closing the steelhead sport fishery. Based on counts of wild steelhead over Bonneville Dam, steelhead fishing will remain open on the Deschutes River in 2023. ‌

The Deschutes River below Moody Rapid is open for fishing.
