Tacoma-Vashon Island (Marine Area 11) salmon season opens June 1

Action: Opens salmon fishing season.

Effective date: June 1, 2023.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: Marine Area 11 (Tacoma-Vashon Island).

Rules: Open Thursday through Sunday only each week. Daily limit 2. Up to 1 Chinook may be retained. Chinook min. size 22". All other salmon species, no min. size. Release chum and wild Chinook.

Reason for action: Salmon fishing in Marine Area 11 will begin June 1, 2023 as agreed with co-managers during the 2023 North of Falcon season-setting process. 

Additional information: Season may be adjusted or closed if catch or encounters approach allowable limits. Beginning July 1, 2023, this fishing season will be listed in the new 2023-24 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

Commencement Bay closed to salmon fishing east of a line bearing 215 deg. true from the Cliff House Restaurant on north shore through Sperry Ocean Dock June 1 through July 31.
