Action: Closes salmon fishing.

Effective date: April 20 through April 30, 2024.

Species affected: All salmon.

Location: Marine Area 5 (Sekiu and Pillar Point).

Reason for action: Estimates of landed catch to date indicate that anglers have reached 98% of the sublegal encounters (3,616 of 3,707) agreed to in this year’s List of Agreed Fisheries (LOAF). To meet conservation goals and avoid exceeding the fishery objectives, it will close beginning Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Additional information: This rule change does not affect the scheduled halibut fishing season in Marine Area 5.
